More about the program
If you are registered in required courses at CNM you will be considered "in progress." These courses must be on your CNM record with a final grade by the end of the term to be eligible to start the program. Courses also must be "in progress" at CNM.
Classes must be completed with a grade of "C" or better. If you do not complete these courses successfully you will lose your seat in the program for the offered term. These students are welcome to apply again in a future term.
If a course is completed with a grade of "CR" or "Credit", this is equivalent to a grade of "C".
Calculated GPA: The CNM Nursing Program is required by the New Mexico Nursing Education Consortium (NMNEC) to enforce a calculated Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.75 or higher. Calculated Grade Point Average refers to your GPA in a set of specific courses, in this case, the courses listed under "Required Courses" in the CNM Catalog for the Nursing NMNEC Concentration. To calculate your GPA, please visit How to Calculate Your Entry GPA for Nursing.
Cumulative GPA: The CNM Nursing Program also required an overall GPA of 2.0 on all CNM courses. Your cumulative GPA is located at the bottom of your CNM Unofficial Transcript. If you have completed less than 16 credit hours at CNM, cumulative GPAs from all other institutions for which you have submitted transcripts will be averaged into your CNM GPA. More information can be found under Grade Point Average (GPA) under Screening Criteria and Guidelines .
The HESI exam must be completed with a 75% on all six sections (Math, Grammar, Reading, Vocabulary, Biology, and Chemistry), and an overall score of 75%. Learn more about the HESI exam.

The third attempt may be scheduled one year after the second attempt. If you retake the exam, you should sign up for a test date that says "HESI A2 EXAM RETAKE."
Results of the exam are good for one year. Exam results will be sent from the Workforce Training Center directly to the Coordinated Program Entry Office. If you took the HESI A2 exam at another school and wish to use that score, you must contact HESI directly at (800) 950-2728 and ask to have your score sent via email to [email protected] . Scores sent from another school must meet CNM criteria.
Students who want to be considered for the CNM-UNM Dual Degree Program must also submit an Application to the UNM College of Nursing through NursingCAS as well as a CNM Pre-Registration Screening Form.
